At A1, we believe that diverse teams are stronger. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone can grow – both personally and professionally.
Diversity,Equity and Inclusion matter
We are convinced that talent is unique – and doesn’t care for normative boundaries such as gender, your age, whom you love or where you come from. So, we don’t care about that either. We rather focus on talent and know that our differences make us stronger and give us the opportunity to learn & grow.
It’s a good thing to care about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. And it’s even better to take actions.
Because we know that talking about and caring for something is important, but setting actions really makes a difference. That is why we defined targets and set a lot of action. But see for yourselves…
A1 STEMFemme
A society where women explore and engage in IT and tech much more than they do now is our motivation and goal. That’s why in A1 Croatia created STEMfemme – a program for female STEM students that includes trainings, mentoring, the possibility to start an internship and stay at A1.
A1 Go IT and tech, girls!
Female Empowerment Program
There are still too few women in leadership and decision-making positions. At A1 Austria, we are on the right track, but not yet there. Therefore, we launched the Female Empowerment Program in 2021 to support our female colleagues on their path to leadership positions.
Diversity Charta
By signing the Diversity Charta in February 2021, A1 Slovenia shows to which extent diversity, equity and inclusion are seen as strengths that will be continually pushed and promoted in the daily work environment.
A1 MINTchanger:in
When thinking about somebody working in IT or tech, we often tend to see the image of a man and not a woman. A1 MINTchanger:in actively wants to change that with focus on female empowerment and breaking down clichés and prejudices. On the annual MINTchanger:in event for example where experts discuss the importance of education and media – but also the importance of each one of us – to foster equal opportunities.
Inclusive Coffee Shops
Since 2020, A1 Belarus has been developing a network of inclusive coffee shops — welcoming spaces designed for both guests and employees. Today, the network includes four locations: two in Minsk, one in Brest, and one in Mogilev, employing 12 people with disabilities. Baristas receive professional training, mentorship support, and continuously improve their skills. The project is part of A1’s ESG strategy and aims to create equal opportunities for everyone.
Happy Parents
Combining work and kids can be quite challenging sometimes. That’s why A1 Bulgaria offers initiatives like a kindergarten at the company’s headquarters, day care for kids on non-school working days, family events but also health insurance for family members and children as well as information done by psychologists on several related topics. Kids are the future – so we support their parents in the present.
Limitless
In a cooperation with the NGO Form of Youth with Disabilities A1 Serbia hires employees with disabilities in their Telesales team. This important step into a world with equal opportunities aims to empower people with disabilities and show their position in our society – and all colleagues working at A1 experience a more diverse and inclusive work environment.
Women@A1 Festival
Exclusively by A1 women for A1 women!
Under the motto “I do because I can”, we host the Women@A1 Festival once a year. On this day, we invite our colleagues to workshops, inspiring keynote speeches, and discussions. We want to contribute to cultural and structural change within and outside of A1, gradually moving toward a more equal and inclusive working world.
Inclusive Family Theater “і”
Founded in 2016 with the support of A1, the “і” theater helps children with autism unlock their creative potential and fosters a more understanding and inclusive attitude in society. Its mission is to promote social inclusion, rehabilitation, and personal growth for people with disabilities by providing a safe and inspiring space where they can develop their talents and feel truly valued. Thanks to years of close collaboration with A1, the theater has staged dozens of performances and launched many impactful creative and socially significant initiatives.
Girls in ICT
Encouraging girls to stay interested in IT and tech topics is a very important goal. Not only does it offer great career opportunities for women and improves equal pay – also these future oriented areas themselves can benefit a lot from more female perspective. A1 Serbia therefore supports the competition “Catch the idea” among girls and raises awareness for jobs that are presently more “male-oriented”.
Technology Goes Without Gender
At A1, we believe that technology knows no gender. We proudly support organizations dedicated to promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion in the tech industry. Through various initiatives and partnerships, A1 is committed to creating opportunities for everyone, regardless of gender, to thrive in the digital world. Together, we are working to break down barriers and build a future where technology is accessible and inclusive for all.
LGBT+ Network for Employees & Allies
“Bring your whole self to work!” is the important mission of the A1 Austria LGBT+ network including all employees who want to show their support. Activities of the network range from interesting and educational posts on the A1 internal social media network to live events where internal and external personalities discuss LGBT+ topics.
No chance for unconscious biases
Understanding underlying causes, creating awareness and sharing strategies to counteract, are crucial to overcome unconscious biases. Our E-Learning has the goal to address these topics. This training is available for team members across all A1 countries.
